The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for embracing violence and mayhem with equal glee, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose projects have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game property, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' style by having a new setting and ensemble in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX family continues to lift me up with their steady belief and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always examining the core of humanity through this complex and turbulent lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our mutual bold, daring sensibility to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
