Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to create a third set.

He saved 4 early-game break points in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
